Copa Crazy….World Cup 2010

Futebol, fútbol, football or soccer, different words to name a passion around the world. Passion that drives millions of people crazy every day, every month, every year; and now after 4 years the biggest event of this sport is taking place in South Africa. Excitement has been building over the last four years and now the time has come. The World Cup is back with a new version of the contest in which 32 teams and 352 men are willing to prove who is worthy of holding the gold cup for the next 4 years. Football is all about this moment, the moment that reveals the champion.

Who’s going to win the tournament?, we don’t yet, but there are some favorite teams Holland, Spain, England, Portugal, Argentina and Brazil… and because we are in Brazil (or Brasil according to a famous Brazilian song - Brasil com S-) we will be cheering on the Brazilian team, and to help us with that the FIFA (International Federation of Association Football at Copacabana beach opened the International FIFA Fan Fest Rio, with a huge LED screen, 50m2 in size, a stage and a hospitality area with bars, restaurants and a FIFA merchandising store displayed in an area of 26,000m2. Copacabana has been the site to many large-scale events, where every year nearly two million people get together for New Years Eve and who wouldn’t want to share the sun, the white sand beach, the ocean and tons of nice people to meet while enjoying the world cup?

The International FIFA Fan Fest Rio will take place from June 11th to July 11th and will be free of charge and open to all audiences for the matches and concerts. The entrance to the space will be 1 hour before the first match of the day and it will close around 21h (according to local press). This is just the beginning of the celebration for the world cup, in every corner of Rio de Janeiro you will feel how is to be in a world cup, even when is not happening here yet. You won’t want to miss it. We will wait for you here in Casa 579.
